He always says, "I just don't understand why girls call to 'check in.' What is there to check on?"
And I always laugh, shrug just a little, and tell him that I've always been prone to other forms of communication.
He tells me that, "he hates text messaging. The only thing worse than calling to 'check in.'"
But he still changed his phone plan so I could text to "check in." And sometimes, when I'm too late studying or I don't call by his lunch hour, he calls me. Other times, when I'm not doing anything at all, he sends me an "I love you."
In spite of all his male posturing, there is something comforting in the fact that maybe girls aren't the only ones who just call to "check in."
